Luring out our potential dinner had been tricky. We had used a twig as bait, by pushing it in and out of the dark hole where the tarantula had been lurking, waiting for its next victim. The plan was to knock it out by slamming it with the flat part of the blade as it jumped out. It failed. The spider was too quick, and had sprung back inside. We dug frantically after it with the machete, trying to spoon it out before it could bury itself too deep underground. It worked. Now, will that be medium or well done? | ||

so, you ate it??!!!
I just realized that I am on a diet!! Too many calories in a tarantula!
Now, Farrah, who would miss the opportunity to eat a nice, big, free-range, fried tarantula? They look SO appetizing, no? 🙂 Actually, the local I was with kept this one for himself, but I later ate some others! You would be impressed, there’s quite a bit of meat in the main part of the body, and the crunchy, hairy legs are delish!
Technically, arachnids & insects are all arthropods — as are the crustaceans. Does spider taste anything like crab or lobster?
I’ve only ever eaten mealworms & those don’t count because they’re larvae.
I just have a really hard time remembering exact tastes…I’ve eaten many of these types of foods (including scorpions), but I remember there was good white meat in the body….maybe tasting like…chicken?
ewwww lol
