Sandboarding

Sandboarding

namibia stamp

You have to admit that the situation sounds pretty ideal: snowboarding minus the frozen fingers and toes. Sure, I had to watch out for the occasional venomous side-winding adder suddenly emerging from the sand in front of me, but there were other unique benefits: The never-ending Namib Desert sand dunes which spread out to the horizon were absolutely breathtaking and, with enough wax under my board, I could reach incredible speeds of up to 80km/h. Although at this very moment, the thought of crashing made me re-evaluate the benefit of a nice, thick, powdery layer of snow.
