So, how do you handle realizing you’ve just overestimated your abilities? Despite having challenged myself to take on one of the most extreme tests of human endurance for my 40th birthday, my reward wasn’t to complete it successfully… Because I didn’t. It was to recognize my own body’s limits and to accept to halve the distances while toughening the rules of the triathlon my way: after the 1.9k swim, I’d carry all the food, water & gear needed for the 90k cycle and the 21.1k run, while ascending over 1500m, in under 7 hours. Mission accomplished, with 4 minutes remaining. | ||

It takes a wise person to recognize his limits and then change his goals.
Hi! I turned 50 last week and I’m feeling like you. The last year or two, I can’t go hard 2 days in a row anymore. My recovery is getting slower, and my tendons can’t handle what I expect them to do. I like your attitude in this post. If make a great podcast episode. ?
Copy that! I definitely understand, and I think the important part is to know your body and adapt to your limitations, without giving it TOO much slack, so just enough to still challenge it without overdoing it. It’s a fine line, and not always easy to walk.
