The grueling ascent of Bolivia’s highest peak had started 40 hours earlier. I was now alone, looking at myself collapsed on my 50 pound backpack, staring up at the stars. I didn’t feel the cold or the pain anymore, in fact, I didn’t really feel anything. I could’ve easily let go.

    Hummm, I remember this mountain in the Andes Bicycle Expedition (or the “best documentary ever released”:P). The sun was going down, right? It must have been a great moment to feel it.
    By curiousity, what is the height of this beauty?

    Yep, it’s the same mountain as in the “best documentary ever made” (thank you, I agree, see trailer below). Mount Sajama is 6545m in altitude (that’s high). At that altitude, there’s only about 45% of the oxygen content in the air as there is at sea level.
