Chasing Waterfalls

Chasing Waterfalls

A few villagers expressed their disagreement. It had been years since the elusive falls had let themselves be seen—many had gotten lost searching. Still, the village chief gave his approval and assigned us his best tracker, the one-eyed, machete-wielding Papa Jean-Claude. After 3 hours of literally carving a path through dense equatorial jungle, we were about to give up. That’s when Papa J-C took a sip from a stream, murmured something in his native Punu… and smiled. The ancestors had answered, the waterfall had granted us safe passage. 30 minutes later, we were standing in front the mystical giant.
