My entire endeavour would’ve come to a sudden halt had that guy rope snapped or been a meter longer. The exhaustion from the grueling hike to retrieve my second bag of supplies, gave way to total bewilderment as I arrived back at an empty campsite. Especially in these remote mountains where I had not seen a single sign of human presence in over 2 weeks. The culprit was no tent-snatching bear, it was the wind, so brutal it had pushed my tent with all my gear off the cliff towards the lake below… Just about a meter short. | ||

Dorian took pity on you as its wind blew at 150 km/hr here in NB, and perhaps it ran out of breath as it reached NF/Labrador, or else your gear would have parachuted in the ocean. Your angel watched over you indeed!
Love,
Jocelyne
Actually, this was about a week before post-tropical Storm Dorian, and the winds were only half as strong as what I would’ve gotten a week later when Dorian hit the coast of NL. So one can easily imagine what would’ve happened to me and my stuff. Luckily, as you say, a Guardian Angel was watching over me that day, and i was taken out a few hours before it hit! Stay tuned for the next postcard for the details! 🙂
