Wonderland

Wonderland

The waiter had insisted we visit the abandoned mansion that he used to explore as a kid. His description of its mythical gardens, secret passages, hidden doorways and baroque buildings, seemed straight out of a Harry Potter book. Even though restoration had started on the main buildings and tourists had been allowed in for a year, we couldn’t resist and decided to check it out. Eight hours later, with muddy feet, bats flying through my hair, and a flashlight between my teeth, I discovered a world halfway between the real and the imaginary.

It’s hard to explain, but yeah, it’s like a deep well, with staircases going down and around inside the walls and from where you go off into several underground tunnels.
