Detained

Detained

I had never seen such big machine guns in my life. They lined the wooden balcony of the stilted hut I had been confined to. The paramilitary men to whom these belonged, sat cross-legged in a circle, playing cards by candlelight. It was hot, dark and pouring. The scene was right out of the movie “Apocalypse Now”. Hours earlier, I had been led into the jungle village, searched, and had my gear confiscated. I was observing them through the ajar door. One of the men turned around and stared right at me. Then he extended a hand of cards, smiling.

So exactly how many times have you been arrested/detained now?… 🙂

hmm…Depends on your definition of arrested/detained (there’s also stopped, held, searched, questionned, fined, etc.)…But stay tuned to the site and you’ll find out! These stories seem to be the biggest hits with my students.
