The feeling of isolation on this abandoned passage to reach the Armenian border was amplified by the immaculate white blanket stretching out as far as my eyes could see. A serene remnant of yesterday’s fierce and blinding snowstorm. Winter had finally caught up with me and I needed to rethink my itinerary south towards Iran. I had just completed the crossing from the Caspian Sea in Asia to the Black Sea in Europe, over the “Greater” Caucasus Mountains. Surely crossing the “Lesser” Caucasus had to be—by its very designation—an easier task, right? If only it were that simple. | ||
