First, the objective should be exceptional—it was recognized as the highest peak in the Mealy Mountains of Labrador. Second, the undertaking should be novel—I had not heard of anyone who had summited it before. Third, the narrative should include setbacks—a week earlier, nasty mountain weather had me holed up at my high camp for 48 hours until I ran out of food and was forced to abort. Fourth, anticipation should be high—I had been planning this expedition for a year. Finally, it should culminate with the exhilaration of success—check. | ||
